Why is my dog scratching?

There are several possible reasons, but the most common one we see is food allergies. This means there is a protein in the diet that your dog is unable to digest properly. Every time your dog eats this protein it triggers an immune response.

We typically see this as:

• Constant scratching

• Red paws, ears & tummy

• Smelly ears and breath

If your dog has a food allergy or sensitivity then the best way to stop the itching (without drugs) is to change the diet to something that doesn’t trigger the immune system.
